Finger Labyrinths

My work with labyrinths began during my Master's Degree in Therapeutic Therapies many years ago. I chose Labyrinths and Mindfulness as my key papers. My mentor introduced me to the practice in a memorable way by drawing a rough labyrinth in the sand and told me to walk it. When I reached the centre and could not see my way out he said:

“There is always a way out.”

That simple guidance has stayed with me throughout my life.

Whilst living on the east coast of Australia, we drew labyrinths in the sand each evening as the tide receded, and people appeared from nowhere to walk them.

I then created Finger Labyrinths to take to Papua New Guinea as therapeutic tools, where they were highly effective. Every design has always been the Chartres Cathedral pattern.

Now at The Emerald Forest, we maintain two full walking labyrinths and are planting them with herbs and flowers to create sensory pathways. The Finger Labyrinths we craft today continue being tools for grounding, clarity & gentle guidance.
